Wesley Hemmans is the Director of Bands & Orchestra at Richard C. Spoto High School (2020-Present)

Prior to his role as Director of Bands and Orchestra at Spoto High School, Mr. Hemmans was the Director of Bands at Al Batinah International School, Sohar, Sultanate of Oman (2019-20); Beijing SMIC Private School, Beijing, China (2017-2019); Eduwings International Primary School in Beijing, China (2016-2017); and Booker T. Washington Senior High School in Miami, FL (2011-2012). Mr. Hemmans also served as Assistant Director at Fayetteville State University, Fayetteville, NC (2015-16) and has taught private lessons both in person and distant (2010-Present).

Alongside education, Mr. Hemmans has worked extensively as an professional Saxophonist in the United States and Abroad. Stateside, he served his country in the United States Army Band (2012-2016) at Fort Bragg, NC, and is now a Veteran of the Armed Forces. He's also performed extensively with various groups, artists, and bands all across the nation . Internationally, Mr. Hemmans has performed on tours in Beijing, China, Hangzhou, China, Hong Kong, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, Bangkok, Thailand, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, Muscat, Sultanate of Oman, Sohar, Sultanate of Oman. Mr. Hemmans' primary doubles include Flute, Clarinet, and Piano. Currently, Mr. Hemmans performs with Red House Duo, an entertainment company consisting of him and his wife. 

During his matriculation at Florida A&M University (2005-2010), Mr. Hemmans was an active member in the famed Florida A&M University "Marching 100" Band and rose in the ranks to lead the Marching Band as Drum Major (2007-2010). Here, he studied under the tutelage of Dr. Julian E. White, Director of Bands, Dr. Shelby Chipman, Associate Director of Bands, Lindsey Sergeant, Jazz Studies Department Chair, and Diron Holloway, Professor of Woodwinds. Among his favorite performances are Marching in President Barack Obama's inaugural Parade in Washington, D.C. (2009) and performing with Prince during Halftime at Superbowl XLI (2007). 

When not teaching music or performing, Mr. Hemmans enjoys spending time with his wife and their 2 girls.

Mr. Hemmans' professional affiliations include: FMEA (Florida Music Educators Association), FBA (Florida Bandmasters Association), FOA (Florida Orchestra Association), NBMBAA (National Black MBA Association), The FAMU "Marching 100" Alumni Band Association, United States Army Veteran, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
