Concert Band
WIND ENSEMBLE
The Wind Ensemble is the premier performing ensemble in the Spoto Band Program. This ensemble plays quality literature and hold the highest standards of performance. The ensemble participates annually in the District 7 Florida Bandmaster’s Association Music Performance Assessment (MPA). The Wind Ensemble consistently earns Excellent (II) or Superior (I) Ratings at festivals in both performance and sight reading.
Band members are expected and encouraged to participate in chamber music and/or perform solos in addition to ensemble performances. Opportunities to perform in standard instrumental chamber ensembles such as brass and woodwind quintets, and percussion ensembles will be provided to all students.
Also, auditioning and volunteering for Honor Bands is highly encouraged. Students will receive multiple opportunities to audition for one of these ensembles each school year.

SYMPHONIC BAND
The Spoto Symphonic Band is is open to students 9-12 by audition or teacher recommendation. The ensemble curriculum focuses on fundamentals of playing and correcting deficiencies in fundamental technique. Students will gain playing experience by performing quality band literature with an emphasis in instrumental technique and musicianship skills. Students who successfully complete this course with a “B” or higher are welcome to audition for the Spoto Wind Ensemble. The ensemble will begin participating in District 7 Florida Bandmaster’s Association Music Performance Assessment (MPA). each year where the ensemble will be rated on musicality and technical accuracy.
